Hi all, brand new here. My NP just prescribed semaglutide and I have a question about has anyone dealt with insurance denied.

Sorry if this has been asked before — I did try searching but the amount of information here is overwhelming (in a good way). I am on day 3 and everything is new to me.

Any guidance appreciated. You all seem really knowledgeable and I am glad I found this community.

Has anyone dealt with insurance denied — I actually dealt with this exact situation a few weeks ago.

Short answer: it depends on your starting point. Longer answer: I wrote about my experience in the dosing forum if you want the full details.

Completely agree with Dr.SurgeonPGH. I would add that Has anyone dealt with also has implications for long-term metabolic health that sometimes get overlooked in these discussions.

In my case, following a similar approach led to significant improvements compared to what I was doing before.

Following this thread closely. Has anyone dealt with is something I'm actively working through.

As a pharmacist, I want to add some clinical context to this discussion on Has anyone dealt with insurance denied.

Building on what anders_CPH said — the evidence base here is robust. The key publications to reference are from the SELECT program[1].

Key clinical points:

  1. Efficacy is dose-dependent and typically requires 4-5 weeks to reach steady state
  2. Side effect profile is predictable and usually manageable with standard protocols
  3. Monitoring should include baseline labs and follow-up at 3-month intervals
  4. Patient education significantly improves outcomes and adherence

Standard disclaimer: this is educational, not individualized medical advice.
