Hot take incoming: why does it stop working after.

I know this is controversial here but I think the conventional wisdom on this topic might be overly simplistic. Before you grab your pitchforks, hear me out.

My argument is based on conversations with my provider who has a different perspective.

Change my mind. Seriously — I want to be wrong about this if I am.

Gonna push back on this one. Why does it stop working after a is not that straightforward in my experience. I have been on this for 18 months and the reality is messier than the trials suggest.

Don't get me wrong — the medication works. But adherence is harder than people admit. We should be honest about that.

This is exactly right. kim_atl_prep articulated what I have been trying to explain to my friends for months. The Why does it stop working aspect is what made the difference for me.

Clinical perspective on Why does it stop working after a while:

I have managed ~150 patients on GLP-1 therapy and this topic comes up frequently. What the data shows — and what I see in practice — is that the medication works best as part of a comprehensive approach.

For this specific question, I would recommend: getting comprehensive baseline labs first.

I respect LarryQC_SD perspective but I think this oversimplifies things a bit. Re: Why does it stop working after — the subgroup analyses show meaningful heterogeneity.

I am not saying LarryQC_SD wrong entirely — just that the picture is more nuanced than a blanket statement. The SURMOUNT data specifically shows baseline BMI-dependent responses.
